3615 S Hermitage Ave
This little McKinley Park workers cottage is both adorable and CHEAP. Someone seriously needs to snatch this baby up ASAP. McKinley Park is a nearby southwest side neighborhood, right next to Bridgeport. The Orange line runs right through it so you have reliable transportation to the Loop (and Midway for those Southwest flights.)
The house itself is has classic Chicago style with a front-facing gable and some fun trim, probably original to when it was built in 1885. You can own a piece of history! For this price, I would expect the interior to need a full gut rehab, but it actually looks great. Neutral paint on the walls, gleaming floors, a white bathroom. Okay, the kitchen is ... interesting. There's a weird mix of linoleum, faux stone tile, and pink ceramic tile. The cabinets and appliances are also a bit hodge-podge. But once you rip out some of these crazy elements (keep the pink tile, please!) and put in a basic kitchen from Ikea, you will be in business.
There's also a small front yard, a sunny backyard, and a two-car garage. Truly an amazing deal!
3 beds, 1 bath, $150k. Somebody buy this house!
