3256 W Evergreen Ave
Humboldt Park is one of the biggest and prettiest parks in Chicago, and the area surrounding it is taking off, especially since the opening of the 606 trail which runs right through the neighborhood. The drawback, in my opinion, is that it's not on a train line, but you do have access to the North/Division/Kimball buses. In fact, the first house I ever bid on was in Humboldt Park, just a couple of blocks from this house.
Built in 1989, it lacks some of the "historic charm" that I am usually drawn to in Chicago homes, but I have to admit it is still bright, clean and cozy. (And hey, no lead paint or asbestos tiles to worry about!) And it looks totally move-in ready despite some questionable purple paint in the basement.
3 beds, 1.5 baths, $350k. Somebody buy this house!
